We're stoked to have collaborated with Mitchell English, an Aussie artist who perfectly captures the essence of beach life in his work. The Lay Day capsule is the perfect artistic injection into our latest Higher Ground collection. Featuring Mitch’s beachscape artwork, the Lay Day celebrates the beaches and the connections we share with fellow sun seekers.
As The Critical Slide Society, we love to celebrate artists, especially those that love to get in the salt. Being an avid surfer, Mitch’s work draws inspiration from his time in and around the ocean, often featuring moments of sunbathers simply appreciating their time. The vibe of simply appreciating the ocean, kicking back, and relaxing is something we can all appreciate, and we hope this capsule encourages just that.
The Lay Day collection features a spread of clothing that showcases Mitchell's work, including a shortsleeve shirt, a bucket cap, two boardies, and a towel in black and white options. With the collection covering you from head-to-toe, you'll be looking like Mitch's personal walking muesum in no time.
To learn more about Mitch and his art, we sat down with him for a chat about all things art, his practice and studio, his board collection. We were even lucky enough to meet his friendly studio assistant. We also asked Mitch to curate ten of the best tracks that he regularly plays in his workshop, providing the perfect soundtrack to make some art.
