This weekend saw the birth of our first festival offering titled, 'Local Produce'. The festival is an in-depth look into all the moving parts that make up Critical Slide. An expressive offering through Art, Music, and Surf ~ With a non-serious dusting on top ~ Proving to be an enjoyable time.
Day 1 ~ Wax Off Art Exhibition.
Critical partnered with 'Wax Off Collective' a group that rounds up 30 artists within the surfing realm for a yearly group show, with 50% of art proceeds being donated to Surfrider ~ A non for profit organisation that aims to protect Australia’s waves and beaches through Conservation, Activism, Research and Education.
'Russian Nights' was the chosen space for the evening. Set in our home town of Bondi, the secretive and peculiar space allowed us to open the doors for the first time to something of this kind. Crowds gathered to get a glimpse of the space, for the one night only ~ with the RN proving to be a hit.
The exhibition itself saw works from the likes of Jack Irvine, Rad Dan, Chris Hope, Paul Mcneil, Georgia Hill and many more.
Musical offerings were partnered with the group show, lighting up the dance floor early was our good mates The Jim Mitchells and Third Eye Stimuli, followed by the set of the evening from Body Type. Lastly, Irvine and Rad Dan cooled the evening down before it was time to shut up shop.

Day 2 ~ The Critical Slide Out.
Partnering with soft board deviants 'Drag Board Co' we presented our annual finless/friction free soft session titled 'The Critical Slide Out'.
On dusk, the session proved to show a heavy hitting line up, despite the number of sore heads from the previous evening. A tight 4 heats saw the likes of Jake Pedrana, Chippa Wilson, Ed Tirglone and many more. With 10 advancing through to the finals, it was 15 year old Harry (unknown) that took the win, stealing the top spot from Chippa (2nd) and Ed (3rd).
Thank you to all who braved the weather and got down on the morning, for the worlds most counterproductive surfing event. See you next year.
With thanks to our drink sponsor of the weekend Gage Roads Brewing Co.
